The raining season is here again with its blessing and challenges. During the raining season, there is usually sufficient supply of water for those who do not have access to regular water supply and the temperature is
1. Driving under the rain: if you must drive under the rain,
ensure you drive on the route you are familiar with. Driving on familiar routes
will help you to maneuver your way in cases where the road is flooded.
Ensure that your wipers are working and your head lights are switched on for better visibility. Keep your speed very minimal because the roads are slippery during the rain. If you are not familiar with a certain route and must drive on that route, watch how other cars are driving through such routes or wait for the rain to stop especially when those ahead of you are experiencing difficulties in passing through.

2. Walking under the rain: if you must walk in the rain
watch for the following:
*fallen electricity poles, dangling electricity wires and
electricity wires lying on the road. Any of these can cause electrocution
during raining season. As much as possible avoid walking under electric poles,
trees or any other objects above your head. Sometimes the winds during the rain
can cause these objects to fall.
If you wear a rain boot, ensure that your trousers are tucked
inside the booth or you can roll up your trousers to kneel length during the
rain.
* Keep the Kids at home when it rains but if they must go
out, ensure they are properly dressed for the weather. Children below 6 years
should not be allowed to walk by themselves. An adult can hold their hands or
better still carry them.
*Avoid muddy and swampy areas: Muddy and swampy areas are
very dangerous during the raining season and should be avoided. The rain
permeates the top soil of such areas easily and makes it easy to slip or sink
in such a dangerous area.
* Ensure you have an anti-surge protection for your
electrical appliances. During the rains, thunder storms are frequent and can
cause electrical surges which damage electrical appliances or even cause a
fire. An anti-surge protector is a must have for every home. Also get a
fire-extinguisher for your house in case of an emergency fire outbreak.
